Dear GISS community,
We are very aware of the forecast catastrophic fire danger for the Sydney region for Tuesday. This is an unprecedented situation and we acknowledge that many of you are nervous given the school’s proximity to bushland.
Rest assured that we’re in close contact with the local authorities, neighbouring schools (Japanese School, Terrey Hills Public and Northern Beaches Christian), Warringah - Pittwater Fire Control and our Terrey Hills Rural Fire Services Brigade.
Should the need arise please note that our primary means of communication is our GISS App, so please make sure that you have the app correctly installed (instructions can be found here). In the event of an evacuation we will also use a school short message system (SMS) to keep you informed. We will test this system today.
We will also send you an update on our school’s bush fire evacuation and communication procedures.
Best regards,
Kristian Wolf
