The Year 12 Visual Art students of 2024 put together a highly impressive art exhibition which showcased their work they have been doing over the last two years. For HL students, there was a large collection of nostalgic memories, intersections of physics and the human experience, an interpretation of the juxtaposition between war and tranquillity, with aesthetically crafted influences of Ukrainian folk art and personal responses to this. The SL students produced a body of work that were thought-provoking scenes on consumerism, well-manipulated pieces on different perspectives, aiming to challenge how viewers interpret visual experiences, and a comprehensive look at cultural experiences, sense of place, identity and memory.
Overall, the IB art exhibition was a very enjoyable and a vital learning experience for all involved and the GISS community was equally impressed with the amount of work the students had put in and how it all unfolded. I would like to personally congratulate the Year 12 students on their efforts and thank everyone else who was involved. Congratulations!
